Description:
Inspired by the renowned Savarin cake molds, Babette is a collection with a strong yet graceful feature. The designer Cristina Celestino styled these iconic and familiar shapes in a contemporary guise, recognizing the craftsmanship in “culinary micro-architecture”.
The renowned skill of ceramists of Bassano persuades the designer to select this material, ancient yet capable, through newly developed techniques, to get sophisticated geometries. Furthermore, colors give this product a firm decorative touch, leaving out the traditional use of
white only. Babette is shaped with using ceramic made in Bassano, a city renowned for its craftsmanship and processing culture of this material. The collection consists of three different volumes combined with colors selected to enhance the architectural lines, and two finishes: glossy enameling for dark green, petrol blue, black and white and opaque enameling for pink. Babette is the result of a formal and aesthetic research aimed at expressing these iconic and familiar forms in a contemporary style. It is a family of pendants inspired by an ideal banquet where protagonists are molds of Savarin cakes, chiselled throughout the centuries by artisans who carved those sinuous shapes embedding volumes.
