Karman News 2022 latest collection titled: ‘Plastikarman’ is conceptually based on the idea of the world’s excess usage of plastic. In their distinctive approach to creating innovative designs, Karman has introduced four exciting new interior lighting and outdoor lighting collections. Discover the new additions: Leda, Agua, Abachina and Pois.
“We’re living submerged in a world of plastic: it wraps itself around us, closing us in. It’s a reality with undefined, out-of-focus, torn boundaries.” – An excerpt from the Plastikarman manifesto in the Karman 2022 Catalogue.
The Leda Collection
Firstly, the Leda Collection is a modular and adjustable range of lighting fixtures that are installable in all directions. Leda’s design resembles a necklace of light that decorates rooms and outdoor spaces like a precious jewel.
Designed by regular Karman collaborators, otherwise known as architect and design duo: Debonademeo, Leda’s form is composed of spheres and cylinders in anodised aluminium and with a flexible diffuser. Leda’s design lends itself to a variety of arrangements for both interior lighting and outdoor lighting usage.
For interior lighting usage, the Leda Collection consists of a Drop Pendant Light, Curve Pendant Light, 3lt Curve Pendant Light, 3lt Pendant Light, 6lt Pendant Light and the Hanging Floor Lamp. Available for outdoor lighting usage is the Outdoor Drop Pendant Light & Outdoor Curve Pendant Light.
Furthermore, featured in the Matte Brass finish is the Drop Pendant Light and the Outdoor Curve Pendant Light. The Matte Brass finish is available for all variations in the Leda Collection.
The Agua Collection
In addition to the Leda Collection, the Agua Collection was designed by Matteo Ugolini and Edmondo Testaguzzaa. It is available in a wall light and table lamp, both can be used for interior lighting and outdoor lighting usage.
Agua’s form is shaped like a pure, clear dewdrop reflecting the light of the dawn after a calm night. Available in two finishes: Frosted or Transparent.
The Abachina Collection
Thirdly, the Abachina Collection consists of an outdoor floor lamp, two floor lamps and wall light for both interior lighting and outdoor lighting usage. Designed by Edmondo Testaguzza, Abachina features spheres of blown glass, secured to a rectangular metal frame, reminiscent of beads sliding along an abacus.
As a result, both outdoor lighting and interior lighting versions of the Abachina Floor Lamp feature two shades while the Rechargeable Floor Lamp and Wall Light has one shade.
The Pois Collection
Lastly, the Pois Collection is made up of three different-sized floor lamps for outdoor lighting usage and was designed by Matteo Ugolini. Furthermore, its design is reminiscent of a firefly peeping through the bushes and camouflaging itself amongst nature.
Once again in their undeniable way to present designs that are deep-rooted within a conceptual framework, Karman have launched a contemporary collection where modularity is prominent. Undoubtedly Karman.
