Situated in Maroubra, this home draws inspiration from its original cruise-ship-inspired architecture, blending nautical elements with modern elegance to highlight expansive Pacific Ocean views.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in defining the home’s atmosphere, with Mia using sculptural fixtures alongside artworks curated by Altus Design Studio to enhance its coastal palette. The Spot 8lt Pendant Light takes pride of place in the kitchen, warmly illuminating the striking emerald quartzite benchtops. In the dining room, Spot Double Ceiling Lights echo the pendant, creating a cohesive design flow. The master bedroom features Riddle Wall Lights in a brass finish, paired with a calming, sea-green bedhead. For added charm, the Riddle Double Wall Light elevates the study nook, seamlessly blending design and functionality.
The bathrooms continue the lighting focus, featuring the Flume Wall Light, Orb Dome Mirror Wall Light, and Orb Mirror Wall Light, which enhance the uniquely designed spaces. In the main living area, the Alton Picture Wall Light highlights a coastal landscape painting, further connecting the interiors to the panoramic ocean views.
Miwa Design’s ability to merge architectural inspiration with refined lighting and material choices results in a timeless seaside haven. The Maroubra House project is a testament to Mia’s expertise, where each fixture and finish has been curated to celebrate the home’s unique setting.

Designer Mia Ward is a Sydney based interior architect who creates beautiful, practical spaces for residential and commercial clients. Mia brings 25 years industry experience to every project, and combines her natural aesthetic sense with an intuitive communication style that enables clients to explore and actualise their own design ideas. Mia manages each stage of the design process from concept to completion of construction, ensuring that completed spaces are unique, personal and harmonious in function and design.
