Tequila Mockingbird first opened in August 2016. Originally a Paddington terrace, thanks to designer Luchetti Krelle’s clever conversion, it is now more than simply an intimate and buzzy Latin American restaurant – it is full-on Latino experience!
Design firm Luchetti Krelle’s brief was to create an imaginary road trip from Mexico to Argentina, stopping by Peru; Tequila, Tacos, Ceviche and a flaming Parilla grill. This idea was translated by creating a journey through the three levels of the venue, with a unique character created for each floor.
The inspiration came from vintage photographs of South America as well as from the Victorian terrace that houses the restaurant. And as with most terrace houses, the width of the space is always an obstacle, particularly over 3 levels. But Luchetti Krelle was able to use this to their advantage and create multiple components of design to reflect the many facets of the food offering.
Various lighting solutions were strategically placed throughout the venue to help evoke different experiences on each floor and LightCo provided options that reflected the character and ambience sought for each area of this venue.
