As part of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2023, Renee Reiter of Invidia Landscapes designed a Mediterranean-inspired show garden. Installed for just five days at the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, the spectacular landscape design, Villa Di Lusso, featured the Cone outdoor pendant light by Il Fanale.
LightCo spoke to Reiter to get the lowdown on her entry to the show:
The garden turned out beautifully and I was thrilled it was well-received for a silver medal, and great response from the public. Never having used any of these materials before I was quite anxious until it all started coming together!
Mediterranean-inspired designs are a style which can be replicated and interpreted differently, and I feel will be a style we will be seeing more of for a long time.
The show garden was an opportunity where I could be creative and use some incredible new materials, while still designing a space the public would be able to appreciate in their own garden.
Why did you specify the Cone outdoor pendant light by Il Fanale?
I was after something special to be a luxurious feature to the pergola without being overwhelming to the space. The aged brass is a beautiful material to include with timber and rattan, and the size of the pendants worked well to sit above the island bench without feeling cluttered or lost in the space.
The cone shape appealed to me over a more rounded pendant being an elegant contrast to the curved opening.
