Macquarie Park in North-West Sydney is now offering a vast selection of eating and drinking spaces. A lively dining destination, The Governor Hotel is a new brilliant hotel that includes a multi-level pub, bistro, garden, and rooftop. It provides its guests with a sense of noteworthy experience within a refurbished office building…
The Governor Hotel is a result of the collaboration between Momento Hospitality and Archebiosis Architects – a Sydney based architectural practice established by Architect Diego Jaime and Edith Clark. This firm [Archebiosis Architects] specializes in the design and project management of residential, commercial as well as hospitality projects.
The project brief was to create a new lodge within a predominantly commercial domain that would act as a drawing card for the area. The key element of The Governor was the idea that “good venues attract people, and good design impacts the way those people behave once inside.”.
Having 260 seating capacity, The Governor’s ground floor is home to a commodious main bar and bistro; the ideal setting with many dining options, including cozy nooks and private booths (inspired by old train carriages) for a weeknight date or special catch-up. With the dark timber detailing, exposed brick walls, royal green tiles, festoon lighting, and an abundance of lush plantings, the garden terrace provides a perfect spot for those wanting to catch the afternoon sun.
A Melbourne laneway-inspired graffiti stairwell connects the first floor to a garden-inspired rooftop above. Take in the grandiose 360-degree view of the local area. Upstairs, the bar accentuates another enticing experience for patrons to enjoy The Governor’s signature drink. Not to mention the “ESS” has an Asian inspired menu featuring a Japanese charcoal grill.
LightCo bore a hand with the overall arrangement of the lighting to this splendid hotel. The project relied on LightCo to provide interior lighterior for the venue … putting forward suggestions for fittings that may not have otherwise considered but which work well with the design intentions across the board.
So what makes The Governor Hotel a brilliant venue? Primarily is the atmosphere, ambiance, and the feeling or mood surrounding a particular guest when he/she is inside. Here LightCo has played a substantial part through illuminating – helping to maintain the old-fashioned and antiquated charm in several areas, including the private booths and venue entries.
Featured throughout the venue is the elegant and sophisticated Étoile Wall Light by Il Fanale. Structured in natural or pre-aged brass and borosilicate glass, it is as refined like the first dancer of a corps de ballet. The warmth of the brass sits well with the rich colouring and provides a focal point from the front entrance.
LightCo was proud to be involved in carefully curating vintage styles like the Molecola Ceiling Light (also by Il Fanale). Made in pre-aged brass, natural brass, or black finish, it is a classic interior lamp that creates an exquisite product balance for the indoor environment – giving the atmosphere a sense of luxury.
“We were so impressed with LightCo; their customer service, efficiency, patience, design contribution, and then, of course, the result in terms of the beautiful products they provided. We would highly recommend using LightCo to all architects and designers as well as clients.”
